Home Base ("we," "our," or "us") is a family dashboard app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What We Collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Google account information — your name and email address, provided through Google Sign-In.
- Family information — your family name, your children's first names, grade levels, chore assignments, and app preferences you enter during setup.
- Daily check-in answers — short text responses your children write in the app each day. These are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a guide response, then stored in your family's private database. See "Third-Party Services" below.
- Usage data — page views, errors, and the "Report a Problem" messages you send us. These include your browser type and the page URL. No names or account details are included.
How We Use It
- To provide and improve the Home Base app experience.
- To generate personalized daily content (facts, jokes, newspaper stories) appropriate for each child's grade level.
- To respond to check-in answers in your chosen guide's voice.
- To diagnose errors and improve reliability.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell or share your data with anyone except the service providers described below.
Third-Party Services
- Google Firebase — handles user authentication and stores your family's data (Firestore). Governed by Google's Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic — processes check-in answers and generates AI content. Your children's check-in text is sent to Anthropic's API to produce responses; Anthropic does not store this data beyond what their API usage policies allow. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Children's Privacy
Home Base accounts are created and managed by parents or guardians (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. All children's data is entered by a parent on their behalf. If you believe a child has provided personal information without parental consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Data Storage and Security
Your family's data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, protected by Firebase security rules that ensure only your account can access your family's data. We do not store payment information.
Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will delete your Firebase account and Firestore data within 14 days.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
